How Blackjack works

Blackjack's core comparison is between the player's hand and the dealer's hand, using card totals and the table's rules. Drawing beyond 21 normally busts a hand, but a natural blackjack and an ordinary total of 21 can have different payouts. Skin-site variants can change the standard format.

Read the number of decks, treatment of aces, dealer behavior on soft totals and the natural-blackjack payout. Splitting, doubling and surrender also require specific rules. The presence of a Blackjack or Twenty One label does not establish that every conventional action is available.

Side bets use separate payouts and probabilities from the main hand. Compare them separately, and keep a hand ID when querying a result. The partner card shows the documented label so named variants are visible in the directory.

A hypothetical $10 hand winning at an even-money main-hand payout makes $10 profit and returns $20 including its stake. A natural blackjack can have a different return under the table's rules.
